This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies we use on astronautcloud.com, why we use them, and how you stay in control. In short: we keep it minimal, nothing that is not strictly necessary runs until you agree, and you can change your mind at any time.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, do the same job. They can keep a website working, remember your settings, or measure how a site is used.

We do not currently run analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on this website. If that ever changes, we will list them here and they will only load after you allow the matching category.

Strictly necessary
Required for the site to work and to remember your choices. These do not need your consent and cannot be switched off.
Functional
Remember settings and searches on your device, for example the recent searches in the DNS Checker, WHOIS Lookup, Email Checker and Hosting Checker, and your settings in the Password Generator Server Setup Script Generator and VPS Size Calculator.
Analytics
Would help us understand how the site is used. Not used at the moment.
Marketing
Would be used to show relevant offers and measure campaigns. Not used at the moment. Keeping this off is also how you opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising.
Third parties and other sites
- Fonts and scripts: the website's fonts and scripts are served from our own domain. Pages load no third-party trackers by default.
- Client area (secure.astronautcloud.com): when you sign in or place an order you move to our billing portal, which is a separate site. It uses session and security cookies that are needed to sign in, keep your cart and protect forms. See the Privacy Policy for how that data is handled.
- Payments: our payment providers, such as Paddle, set their own cookies on their checkout pages.
- Links: if you follow links to services such as WhatsApp, YouTube, X (Twitter) or LinkedIn, those services apply their own cookie rules.
- DNS Checker: when you run a check, your browser sends the domain name you typed straight to the public DNS resolvers listed on that page (for example Google Public DNS and Cloudflare) so they can answer. We do not receive or store that lookup.
- WHOIS Lookup: when you look up a domain, your browser sends the domain name you typed straight to the public RDAP server of that domain's registry (and, where available, its registrar) so it can answer. We do not receive or store that lookup.
- Email Checker: when you run a check, your browser sends DNS queries for the domain name you typed straight to Google Public DNS (and to Cloudflare as a backup) so they can answer. We do not receive or store that lookup.
- Hosting Checker: when you look up a website or IP address, your browser sends DNS queries to Google Public DNS (and to Cloudflare as a backup) and asks the public lookup servers of the regional internet registries (ARIN, RIPE NCC, APNIC, LACNIC and AFRINIC) who runs the network. If you press “My IP”, your browser also asks ipify.org for your public IP address. We do not receive or store these lookups.
- Password Generator: passwords are created inside your browser with its built-in random number generator. They are never sent to us or any other party and are never stored. The page makes one request for a word list from our own domain when you use the Passphrase option.
- Server Setup Script Generator: the script is built inside your browser from the options you choose. Your SSH public key and the script are never sent to us or to anyone else, and they are not stored.
- VPS Size Calculator: the estimate is calculated inside your browser from the options you choose. Nothing you select is sent to us or stored on our servers.
How to manage your choices
- On this site: use the “Cookie Settings” or “Your Privacy Choices” link at the bottom of every page, or the button below, to accept, reject or choose by category. You can withdraw consent as easily as you gave it.
- Global Privacy Control: if your browser or extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to switch Analytics and Marketing off, and we honor it on every visit.
- In your browser: you can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may mean we ask for your choices again on every visit.
Your rights
European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland: our legal basis for non-essential cookies is your consent (GDPR, UK GDPR and the ePrivacy rules). You can withdraw it at any time, and you have the rights described in our Privacy Policy, including access, correction and erasure.
United States: under state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) you can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, and you can ask what we hold about you. Use the controls above, or contact us.
Changes to this policy
If we change the cookies we use, we will update this page and the date at the top, and we will ask for your choices again when the change needs your consent.
